What is a Habitat?

The 4-H Children's Garden at Michigan State University is a wonderful habitat for many plants, butterflies, and birds.
A habitat is an environment where animals and plants live.  Habitats need to provide space, food, shelter, and water for animals and plants to survive.

There are many different types of habitats to meet the needs of plants and animals.  Take a look at the slide show below to see a variety of different habitats!
Think about your favorite animal! What type of habitat does your animal need?  Why does it need that habitat?

Take a look at this e-book to find out more!
